Preview of my current project; building my own still life to work from. The final one I decided on is the hand wall, which is both an opportunity for me to work with different techniques of pushing color on the canvas and of teasing the academic pretentiousness surrounding color fields by referencing children’s crafts.

Finished the first of the series. Learned a lot of things about the process… including, unfortunately, an irreversible buckling incident after glossing.This is a shot before the finishing touches; specifically, the aforementioned gloss, and a dark brown finish around the edges.Hopefully I’ll be able to keep the next one in mint condition throughout the finishing stages.
